Write for us

We welcome pitches from writers who can make a screen-related question clear, specific and rewarding to think about. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a complete article unless we have asked for one.

What makes a good pitch

Tell us the central question, the reader it would help and the distinct idea you would bring. A strong proposal has a clear scope, explains why the subject is worth exploring and indicates how you would handle facts, examples and uncertainty. We are interested in fresh angles on choosing, formats, film language, collections and viewing habits.

Before you send

Keep the proposal concise and include a working title, a short outline and relevant writing experience if you wish. Do not include confidential material or personal information that is not needed to assess the idea. A proposal is not a promise of publication; we will consider its fit with the publication's subject and standards.

Our point of view

A good choice starts with knowing what you want from a watch.

We look at the ways people choose, arrange and experience screen stories, so you can find a useful next step without needing a definitive watchlist.
